Haiku for a synod afternoon
synod words go slow
speeches and rumors of speeches
pinch myself awake
Haiku for a synod debate
rankled words spill forth
teeth grind, blood pumps, smiles still friendly
good times had by all
My heart became hot within me. As I mused, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue: "O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!"
